DIY Wedding Jean Jacket for Brides Tutorial
Design
In Cricut Design Space you will pull up my Bride project file or my Mrs. project file. Click Customize. If you are making the Mrs. version then you are going to want to change the name. To change the name you will click on the name and a text box will appear. Type the name you want in that box then use the arrow in the bottom right corner to adjust the size.
If you need to adjust the size of the entire design then you can click on the flower wreath and the same arrow symbol to adjust size will appear there too. If you are making the Bride version of this then you can adjust the size in the same way.
Cut
When you have your design the way you want it then you will click Make it. Now you will see the design laid out on the cutting mat. Because we are doing an iron on vinyl you are going to need to mirror your image. This will make the image look backwards on the screen which exactly what you want for iron on vinyl.
Click continue and then you will have to select your material.
Then you make sure to set your machine following the directions in Design Space. I love how it walks me through everything so that I don’t mess things up.
When everything is set up put your vinyl shiny side down onto your cutting mat and load it into the machine. Press go and it will cut the design.
Once your cut is all done you will unload it and then weed out (remove) all the vinyl that isn’t part of your design.
Apply
Lay your design down on your jacket.
Use the Cricut Heat Guide to determine the proper settings for the vinyl that you are using. I love this guide because I would never be able to keep this all straight in my head.
Press the design on according to these instructions for temperature and time. For everyday iron-on it’s 315 degrees for 25-30 seconds and wait until it’s cooled off to peel the plastic off.
Peel off the plastic backing and you’re done!
Go rock your DIY wedding jean jacket for brides!
