Some of you are probably scandalized by seeing a back to school post this soon but there are parts of the country where school is getting ready to start. In getting ready for the first day of school I always like to come up with a first day of school sign for my kids to hold on the first day while I grab a picture of them. It’s so much fun to look back on each year’s picture and compare their growth from the prior years. I’m sharing my free printable first day of school signs 2025 edition with you all so that you can have fun with the same tradition!
For this year’s color I went with a happy yellow/mustard color. I made a sign for each grade from Preschool through 12th Grade. I also made a sign that just says “First Day of School” with no grade on it just in case you want to snap a picture of all of your kiddos together.
Recommendations
I recommend that you print your sign onto cardstock or better yet print it out and pop it into a frame to keep your child from wrinkling the paper. If you do decide to use a frame then take the glass out so that there is no glare in your photos.
For best results you will also want to get outside and take your pictures in natural light. Don’t use a flash and try to position your kid so that the sun is not in his or her eyes. Try to give yourself a few extra minutes on the first day of school so that you’re not rushed and you can take a few good photos.
