It’s that time of year when a lot of us are gearing up for back to school season. I know, some of you are in full summer mode still and I totally get that but here it is almost the start of school time. I’ve been working on a number of things for back to school and today I’m sharing my free printable First Day of School coloring pages with you all!
Instead of just one first day of school coloring page I actually made a few first day coloring pages. They all feature the same basic design of being surrounded by school-related clipart but I have ones that are specific to certain grades as well as one that just says “first day of school”.
Coloring can be helpful in developing fine motor skills and a great activity to relax and shake off the school jitters. These first day of school coloring sheets feature cute clipart of school supplies, school buses, and more. They probably appeal mostly to younger kids but some older kids find coloring to be a relaxing activity as well. When I was still in the classroom I found that my middle school high school students still loved to color, especially around stressful times like midterm and final exams.
Coloring can be a very soothing activity for kids of all ages and it might be fun to have a little coloring time on the first day of school or have this coloring pages as an optional extra activity on hand in case you need to fill some time. Whether you are a new teacher or a seasoned veteran it’s always good to have a few extra activities on hand, especially the first week of school.
For even more fun you could have the kids color it and then snap a photo of each kid with their coloring page to share with parents. Giving them the photo at the end of the year would be a fun way to see how much they have grown during the school year.

This simply means that you can print these fun coloring pages out and use them at your school or home but you can’t sell the pdf or the printed out coloring pages either.
