It’s time to get ready for back to school! To help you capture those great first day of school photos I’ve got some free printable first day of school signs for you today. I’ve got every grade from preschool through 12th grade.
Each year I’ve made these because I love snapping a photo of my boys on the first day of school each year and being able to see how they change year to year. I cannot wait to compare my boys’ senior year pictures to the ones from preschool.
Yes, yes, I will be that mom who makes her teenage boys pose out in front of the house on the morning of the first day of school… No matter how embarrassed they might get.
If you’ve got a kid who might crumple the paper then you may wish to print the sign out onto card stock or pop it into a frame. I like to pop mine into a frame and take the glass out to avoid any glare.
Have your kiddo hold the sign and snap a few pictures before you head off for the first day of school. To get my boys to smile I try to make a little joke or say something silly so that they giggle a little and I get a more natural smile.
These printable first day of school signs are free for your own personal (non-commercial) use. To get your free printable first day of school sign you click on the image of the grade you want and that should open up the pdf file that you can print.
Be sure to do a print preview to check that your printer settings are correct for how you would like to print your sign.
Do you do the annual first day of school picture? Do you have any other first day of school traditions? I’d love to hear all about them in the comments below!

These are so cute and a tradition I do every year. Will you be making matching "Last Day of School" signs too? I would love them, if you would be willing/able!

Thank you! Yes, each year I make a matching last day of school sign. I usually come out with those in May.
