June was Get Outdoors Month and July 14th was Mac & Cheese day, so to celebrate I came up with a couple of fun, bug themed activities: a Bug Sensory Bin using Back to Nature Made with Organic Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese Dinner and a Bug Hunt. I’m sharing them this morning so that you can make mealtime your playground too!
For the Bug Sensory Bin I filled a shoebox-sized storage bin with Back to Nature Made With Organic Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese Dinner. I used six boxes.
I loved using these noodles because the bug shapes are super cute. My kids get a kick out of this sort of thing.
Then I mixed in 24 plastic bugs.
I added in a shovel, tongs, and a measuring cup for my boys to play with in the bug bin.
I let them play around with the bugs for fun. After a little bit of free play, I had them take out bugs and sort them using the bug identification cards. You can get the Bug Identification Cards here.
As they pulled out and tried to sort bugs, we talked about the characteristics of each one. Then we counted how many of each there were. The boys enjoyed this bin a lot and after we were done counting they put all the bugs back in and played with it some more.
While they played with the bin I made up some lunch. I made some Back to Nature Made with Organic Pasta Macaroni & Cheese Dinner. Back to Nature Made with Organic Pasta Macaroni & Cheese Dinner is creamy, cheesy, and delicious. I love that it has no artificial flavors, preservatives, or synthetic colors. It’s non-GMO and made with organic pasta. After lunch we had a bug hunt. You can get your free Bug Hunt Printable here.
We had a blast walking around the back yard trying to think of good places to find bugs and trying to identify them.
I got both types of Back to Nature Macaroni & Cheese Dinner at Target.
