We spent last weekend at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest in Harrisville, Pennsylvania and we are so tired… but in a good way! This was our first family camping adventure and we all enjoyed our stay so much. Here are 10 reasons why I think you’ll love it too!
A Variety of Accommodations
This is our first family camping experience because honestly we are not super outdoorsy people. We like hiking and being outside in nature for sure but we also love our creature comforts.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest has a number of different options for your stay. You can camp in a tent, bring your RV or camper, stay in a yurt, or stay in a cabin.
Quality & Cleanliness
We stayed in a cabin and it was immaculate. Everything seemed new and clean. Our boys particularly loved the sleeping loft in our cabin. You bring your own linens and food but the cabin does come stocked with some supplies like dishes, toilet paper, paper towels, and the like.
The Awesome Activities
Camping together is an affordable and fun trip for families and I very much enjoyed all of the amenities of the campground. Everyone in the family can find something to do because there’s just so much there and some of the amenities are quite unique!
We loved the swimming pool, jump zone, playground, basketball court, mini golf course, and four-wheel pedal cars. They also have a recreation hall, game room, gem mining sluice, horseshoe pits, bingo, shuffleboard, dog park, gaga ball pit, RC car tracks, bicycle pump track, and laser tag battlefield.
I love the creativity of this campground. Most campgrounds will have a pool and probably a playground but Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Kozy Rest has so much more. It’s clear that they are constantly looking for ways to enhance the campground and think outside of the typical box with their amenities.
The Free Amenities
Some of the amenities at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Kozy Rest cost a small fee but I was surprised by how many of them are free. The four wheel pedal cars, the pool, the mini golf, the bounce zone, the playground, the basketball court, the gaga ball pits, the RC car track, and the bike track are all free.
Some of those are ones that you’d typically expect to be free (like the pool) but I was really surprised when I learned the mini golf and the pedal cars were free. We had a blast doing those!
Yogi Bear
If your child likes a costumed mascot like mine do then this is a major reason to love this campground. We got to see Yogi multiple times over the course of the weekend and had some great experiences with him. A highlight for my boys was watching Yogi show off his basketball skills.
Themed Weekends
As if the regular amenities weren’t enough every weekend at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Kozy Rest has its own theme with special themed activities. The weekend of our visit the theme was “carnival” and there were fun kid’s carnival games, root beer floats, festive train rides, kids vs. clowns laser tag and much more.
At check in we were given a little booklet that listed all of the activities and times so that we could keep track of it all. My boys especially loved getting to ride in the fire truck.
A Taste of Nature
While we had loads of fun enjoying the campground activities we also loved how our cabin was kind of tucked back in the woods. One morning I also took advantage of the beautiful walking trails and had a nice, quiet hike through the woods.
Campfire Rings
Our campsite had a fire ring and picnic table out in front of the cabin. We were able to give our kids the fun experience of roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire. I loved making this memory with them this weekend.
Pet Friendly
Many of the sites and cabins are pet friendly so the whole family can vacation together. There’s even a fenced dog park area and a dog washing station.
Ease
From booking to getting there to checking in and out everything was a breeze. You can easily book a stay for your family at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Kozy Rest online on their website where you can also see pictures of all of the accommodations as well as the amenities. The campground is about 1 hour north of Pittsburgh and an easy drive for us from Northeast Ohio.
When we arrived I was checked in in just a few minutes and then they had a staff member show us how to get to our cabin. Check out was quick and easy as well.
Camping season at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest runs until October 27th this year. Be sure to check out all that they have to offer on their website. In planning and getting excited for our trip we also found it useful to watch videos on the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest Youtube Channel.
