Winter is long here in Ohio. I know, it isn’t exactly the tundra, but for this girl who grew up in Virginia it sure seems like it. Spring is finally here and I am so excited to get outside!
Our family practically lives outside in the warmer months so it’s important to me that we have nice outdoor spaces where we can play and relax. Our lawn will be the backdrop for soccer games, picnics, camp-outs, picking veggies from the garden, and kiddie pool parties. I want it to be a nice, green backdrop accented with flowers.
To get our yard back into shape after winter I came up with a checklist. If you’ve followed the blog for any amount of time you know that I love a good list. Lists help get me going and also help me to not feel overwhelmed. Here’s my Spring Cleaning Checklist for the Outdoors:
You can get my printable Outdoor Spring Cleaning Checklist here.
So far we’ve been able to tackle a few items on our list.
We removed sticks and leaves that had accumulated. We also weeded the flowerbeds and planned out what flowers we want to plant. It’s still too cold here for us to plant flowers for a few weeks but I like having the beds ready to go and a plan for when we shop.
We repaired the bare spots on our lawn. To repair them I used Scotts® EZ Seed® Sun and Shade. You can find it at Walmart. I got mine in the Garden Center.
I love that it’s in an easy to pour container. It’s mulch, seed, and fertilizer all in one which makes things even easier. I only needed to get one because it covers 85 square feet, which was enough for the bare spots we had.
As you can see we have a few more items left to check of of our list. But we love our lawn and are looking forward to many days running around with the sun on our faces and green grass between out toes.

Thanks so much for this list! We are expecting a nice weekend in Michigan and I plan on getting a jump on my Spring Cleanup.

Yes this weekend is supposed to be nice which means we can finally get out there and get some more done as well! Shortly after getting the first few things done the weather went cold again so I've been itching to get out there.
