DIY Felt Ball Garland Tutorial

I have been wanting to make some felt ball garlands for what seems like forever so I am excited to finally get around to it. Since we moved I have been excited about decorating the mantle of our first fireplace. I just got it decorated for Halloween and I am excited to share my DIY felt ball garland tutorial with you all.

Supplies Needed

• Felt Wool Balls (I used 50 to make my garland)
• Embroidery Needle
• Embroidery Floss

DIY Felt Ball Garland Tutorial

I could not find any of the pretty felt wool balls in my local craft stores so I sourced some from a shop on Etsy. The pack I chose had 5 different colors which I thought was the perfect amount for feeling Halloween-themed while keeping it a little interesting by doing two shades of orange and throwing in the gray. When I got them I lined them up a couple of different ways to figure out what sort of a pattern I wanted to do with my garland.

Then I took my embroidery needle and threaded it with two strands of embroidery floss. When I originally envisioned it I wanted to use black and white baker’s twine but I could not for the life of me find any so I just used the black and white embroidery floss to get the look. I tied a knot to make a little loop at each end for hanging the garland.

As far as your needle goes you are going to want to make sure you’ve got one that can easily get through the felt wool balls. You may also want to use a thimble to help you push through the ball if it gets difficult.

When you are done just knot it to make another little loop at the other end and you can hang it up!

It’s super simple but I thought I’d share in case any one had any questions particularly where to get the felt wool balls. I wish that they would carry them in the local craft stores to make it even easier. I cannot wait until I make one for my Christmas tree this year!
