I’m a busy mom, so I don’t have a ton of time to spend on my skin care regimen. But I do sometimes have issues with acne. My skin has been somewhat difficult since having my two boys. Products that used to work no longer work, and I’m trying something new. I’m using Differin® Gel, and I’ve come up with a routine for taking care of my skin each morning and night that’s quick enough for anyone.
New Morning Routine:
- cleanse my face with Differin® Balancing Cleanser
- moisturize with Differin® Balancing Moisturizer
- apply sunscreen
New Evening Routine:
- cleanse my face with Differin® Balancing Cleanser
- apply Differin® Gel
- moisturize with Differin® Balancing Moisturizer
To make my routines as quick as possible, I set my bathroom up so that my skin care supplies are easy to access. I feel like planning and preparation are keys to success in many areas of life – when I plan and prep my meals ahead of time, it makes it easy to eat healthier. To set myself up for success with my skin care, I made a new shelf dedicated to holding my new products.
I like having all my skin care products out so that I don’t have to dig through my bathroom cabinet to find them, and seeing them reminds me to use them. I’m a perpetually tired mom trying to add a new routine, so I need all the help I can get. Having a shelf off to the side is good though because it keeps my sink area uncluttered, which is helpful for cleaning and my type-A personality.
To set things up, I determined what I would need: a headband, washcloths, my Differin® Balancing Cleanser, my Differin® Gel, my Differin® Balancing Moisturizer, and my sunscreen. So then I drew up a sketch of a cubby shelf to organize them and asked my father-in-law to make it for me. After he made it I filled the nail holes with wood filler, primed, and painted it. To hang the cubby shelf I screwed it directly into the wall, making sure to screw into the studs.
I put the supplies into the cubby from left to right in approximately the order in which I use them. When I get up in the morning, or when I get ready for bed, I just work my way down the line. As time goes on, I will probably adjust what I keep in my little cubby shelf and figure out if I want to keep more in them or just keep my skin care products in them.
I’m excited about my new routine. This week I picked up Differin® Gel, Differin® Balancing Cleanser, and Differin® Balancing Moisturizer at Walmart.
Differin® Gel is the first and only prescription strength retinoid now available over the counter for clearing and preventing acne. Differin® Gel contains the only multi-benefit dermatologist recommended retinoid, Adapalene, now available without a prescription to clear and prevent acne. This is the newest advancement and ingredient in the over the counter acne category in over 30 years. With a long-standing heritage as a proven acne treatment, Differin® Gel clears breakouts deep in the pores where they start. It also prevents breakouts before they begin, which helps restore skin’s texture and tone.
Differin® Gel is not used in the same way as a spot treatment. In order to get the best results, you should apply a thin layer all over your face, once a day, every day. Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation. You should continue to cleanse and moisturize your face when using Differin® Gel, and it is recommended that you use Differin® Balancing Moisturizer and Differin® Balancing Cleanser with it.
Even after your skin looks better, you should still use Differin® Gel as a part of your skincare routine to help prevent future breakouts. Differin® Gel is recommended for anyone who is suffering from mild to moderate acne.
In a few weeks I will be showing you my skin’s progress. For now I will share my before picture with you:
So, anyone else going through skin changes?

I love that cubby idea - much better than hiding it behind a door in a medicine cabinet where it gets forgotten! #client
