Leather Name Key Chain Tutorial

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.

Moving right along with our DIY Christmas Gifts series I have a tutorial today for how to make a leather key chain with someone’s name on it. This is another project that the Cricut Maker 3 makes super simple and quick.

Open up the Design Space Leather Key Chain project file. Adjust the size of the key fobs and change out the names to what you want them to be. Keep in mind that you want the shorter side of the key fob to be 1 inch so that it matches up with your key fob hardware.

Follow the steps in Design Space to load the correct cutting blade for your leather and then the vinyl. You will need to use a Strong Grip mat with your leather.

Once everything has been cut take your vinyl and weed away the parts that are not part of your design. Then apply transfer tape to your vinyl and remove the paper backing.

Next apply the vinyl names to the leather pieces. Then use the clamp tool from the key fob hardware kit to attach the key fob hardware to the end.

And then you are done! If you want to mix it up you could use 2 pieces of the leather back to back in the hardware clamp to make it a little more substantial.
