I know. Some of you are probably sick of me and the headbands. But for me 2016 is the year of the headbands. Well, at least it’s the year of beefing up my headband collection. My hair accessories tend to grow legs, walk away, and hide around here. So I’ve been busy making a few styles- knotted, ruffle flower, braided, and now a rope headband.
This one is so so simple to make. I cannot over-exaggerate that. And it’s inexpensive to boot. Here’s what you need to make this easy rope headband:
- 1/2 yard of rope from the notions section at the fabric store
- 4 inch piece of 1/2 inch wide elastic
- 2 1 inch X 2 inch pieces of felt
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Step 1: The rope from the notions section unravels easily so they tape it for you at the store. To prevent unraveling cover the ends of the rope with hot glue.
Step 2: Once the glue has dried remove the tape off of the ends. Then glue the elastic to the ends of the rope. Glue 1 inch of the elastic onto each side.
Step 3: Glue the pieces of felt around the ends of the rope. Have it hand over the elastic a little and pinch it together to close the end.
And that’s it!
This headband was super easy and inexpensive to make. I think I might go back to the notions section and grab a few more half yard to make some more headbands with my elastic and hot glue gun. If you’re at all in the mood to make some headbands I totally recommend it as it’s a really easy way to make a headband.
I love this rope style for summer. It feels very nautical and beachy to me. What headband looks do you like for summer?
