A friend of mine starts school this week and while we have a tiny bit more of summer left it’s almost time for school! In getting ready for the first day of school I always like to come up with a first day of school sign for my kids to hold on the first day while I grab a picture of them. It’s so much fun to look back on each year’s picture and compare their growth from the prior years. I’m sharing my free printable first day of school signs 2022 edition with you all so that you can have fun with the same tradition!

For this year’s color I went with a light blue/green color. I made a sign for each grade from Preschool through 12th Grade. I also made a sign that just says “First Day of School” with no grade on it just in case you want to snap a picture of all of your kiddos together.
Recommendations
I highly suggest that you print your sign onto cardstock or print it out and pop it into a frame to keep your child from crumpling the sign. If you do decide to use a frame then you’ll want to take the glass out so that there is no glare in your pictures.
Also, try to get somewhere outside to take the pictures in natural light. Avoid using a flash and try to position your kiddo so that the sun is not in his or her eyes. Be sure to give yourself some extra time on the first day of school in order to snap these photos!
