As I mentioned on Monday, my husband and I are doing the Daniel Plan right now. Today is now day 4, which means I have completed 3 full days so far. So, how’s it going?
It’s OK. I’ve been very good about my eating, sticking to the principles of no sugar, no chemicals, only whole foods and keeping things in proportion according to the Daniel Diet Plate. I also have been doing the detox (no gluten or dairy for the first 10 days) and I’ve stuck to that. I feel OK, but I would say not great. I’m not starving, but I do find that I don’t feel like I have a ton of energy. But that could also be due to the fact that I’ve had a few things interrupting my sleep this week (storms, kids, nightmares). On day 2 and 3 I had some off and on headaches, which I read could be withdrawal headaches (I miss sugar!) or again, it could be from not sleeping well. I get headaches when I don’t get enough sleep.
So what am I eating?
Breakfast is typically an egg and a smoothie. I’ve made two smoothie variations so far. I’ll share my recipes in an upcoming post.
Lunches and dinners are both about the same. Half my plate is non-starchy veggies, a quarter is lean protein, and the other quarter is starchy veggies.
So what about weight? As of my weigh in this morning, I’m down 6 pounds since my weigh in on Monday. In addition to the food changes I have been walking every day with the kids and doing Pilates some days. It’s obviously been effective, but I know at some point my weight loss will plateau. That’s ok, just so long as we keep moving forward with healthy choices.
I’m not going to lie though, I do miss this:
One day we will be reunited. But with a nice big salad on the side to balance things out. I’ll be posting again on Monday to keep you up to date on how things are going.
