Life is so good but it is so busy. There’s always more to be done and futures unknown and there are times when I allow it all to overwhelm me.
I really love the Johnny Diaz song “Just Breathe”. It’s kind of become my mom anthem lately, my reminder to myself to step back when I’m feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and tired by all that life throws at me.
My favorite part is:
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to take it in, fill your lungs
The peace of God that overcomes
Just breathe
let your weary spirit rest
Lay down what’s good and find what’s best
Just breathe
The peace of God that overcomes
Just breathe
let your weary spirit rest
Lay down what’s good and find what’s best
Just breathe
I love the reminder to just stop and put that all down to spend some time at Jesus’ feet. It reminds me of Matthew 11:28- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” I feel like if I didn’t spend time praying and talking to God then I really would break. It really would all be too much.
But with not with Jesus. With Jesus there is calm. There is rest. And I need to remember to take time to set aside all things that I could be doing and spend time with him.
It’s been out a while so you may have heard it but if you haven’t you should have a listen to “Just Breathe” by Johnny Diaz:
