Happy Friday!!! Yes, three exclamation points. It’s been that kind of week month. Let’s just say that I’ll be starting my Christmas preparations earlier next year. I’ve been stressed out and I have not done nearly all that I planned to do. But you know what? At the end of the day, I’m working on letting go of some of my self-imposed expectations and trying to just enjoy things more. Here’s 5 things I am enjoying this Friday.
1. The Kitchen
As I shared earlier this week, I finished the boys’ play kitchen. Cue the Hallelujah Chorus people- it’s done! And the boys love it. Yes, we already gave it to them. We had Christmas with just the four of us on Saturday because of scheduling. I’m very pleased with it, but I am so glad that this monster of a DIY project is done.
2. Fitbit
Santa brought me a Fitbit Flex. And while I have not been able to spend much time learning all the ins and outs of how to use it, I’m really excited.
3. New Shoes for S!
So at baby S’s 15 month check-up I asked our doctor about some rubbing that was happening on S’s feet. I felt like his shoes were big enough so I wasn’t sure what was causing it… he suggested that perhaps S’s feet were wide and that I should take him to get measured again since it had been a while. So I did and while I had him in shoes that were long enough, his shoes were not wide enough. He has wide feet and a high arch so he needs extra wide shoes. So we got him a great new pair and this should help his feet.
4. New Shoes for me!
Speaking of high arches… I got some new shoes too! It took me a while, but I finally found a new pair of running shoes. I love how they feel so far.
5. It’s Christmas!
Most of the craziness is behind me now and I’m looking forward to slowing down and really savoring this Christmas. “Oh Holy Night” has been playing through my head often and the line “the weary world rejoices” has resonated with me so much this year. I am hoping to shed the weariness that I am feeling and lean into the joy of God’s beautiful gift to us. I may need to get my hands on this print from Nicole Joelle Prints.
As I savor this season, things will be a little sparse around here. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
