Cupid’s Arrow Fruit Kabobs

For my son’s Valentine’s Day party at school I’m making the healthy snack.  I came up with the idea of doing fruit kabobs similar to the rainbow kabobs I’ve made before but with a Valentine’s Day twist.

First wash and dry your strawberries.  If you want to stick with the red/pink family of fruit you could also use pieces of watermelon, grapes, raspberries, or cherries.  Please note that I made these fruit kabobs for older children… if you want to make these for younger children then make sure that the fruit is cut to a size that is appropriate for your child’s age so that you reduce the risk of choking and always supervise children when eating.

Ok, legal disclaimer aside let’s keep going.

Next you skewer the fruits.  I used straws to make it festive and kid friendly.  I got the straws at Hobby Lobby but you can find similar red and white straws on Amazon and at other craft stores.  When you slide the strawberry on you will get a decent amount of strawberry stuck in the straw.  Pull this out as you add each strawberry.

Once you have skewered the fruit onto the straw you can attach the little arrow heads and feathers to make the arrows.  First, print out the jpg or pdf  onto cardstock and cut out the arrowheads and feathers. The jpg is much more crisp than the pdf, so I would print the jpg if you can!

Then attach them to the ends of the straws using double sided tape.

Now you have a fun, healthy snack for Valentine’s Day for your little cupids to enjoy.
