It has been a great week but I’m thankful it’s Friday. My thoughts are very Thanksgiving focused right now so this week’s five is all about things I’m thankful for right now.
1. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…Thanksgiving
We finally took down the Halloween Decor and decorated for Thanksgiving. The decor is minimal- Fall-colored striped table cloth, a few pumpkins on the table, and this new Thanksgiving banner. We made the banners as our craft in my Mom’s group yesterday. I had a great time chatting and making our banners together and I love that I have something to add to my minimal Thanksgiving decor.
2. Window Clings
These are from Target but I stumbled across them in Marc’s in Aisle 1. For $0.25 cents per set I thought they would be a fun Thanksgiving Decoration that my son could claim as his own. The second one says “Be Thankful” but he decided to creatively arrange the letters.
3. Mental Whitespace
Lately I have been craving more “me” time. I love being a stay at home mom but being “on” all day with a 15 month old and a nearly 4 year old had been wearing me out a bit more lately. At this stage they do not play together well and that makes for some long days. Plus my introverted self just has a hard time with the fact that my older son wants to ask questions and talk to me all day long. Don’t get me wrong- I have great kids and I love them very much but on Tuesday night I was feeling run down and just needed to get out of the house so that I could have some quiet alone time. My husband has always encouraged me to get out of the house more in the evenings and take more time for myself but I struggle with it because sometimes it makes me feel selfish and unproductive. Tuesday night I spent some time browsing in TJ Maxx and I saw this notebook that I thought was beautiful. I didn’t get it (I have too many notebooks right now) but it did perk me up a little.
4. The Weather
The weather this week has been glorious. I’ve taken the boys out as much as possible this week so that we can soak it all up before the cold weather comes.
5. Play Kitchen
Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with my father-in-law to begin work on a play kitchen that I want to make for my boys for Christmas. I like the look of the Pottery Barn Simply White Retro Kitchen… but I don’t want to spend $699. So we plan to make it ourselves. We’re hoping to use Camille from Imperfectly Imaginable’s kitchen plans as our guide-line. If any of you have built a play kitchen please send me your sage advice!
I’m linking up with these Friday Link-ups:

tiny kitchens are ridiculously priced, even the cheaper ones. It's just a toy! You don't even make real food on it! Why so much. That is great that you are going to make one, so crafty. I'm not that handy. I did love my play kitchen as a kid. It got a ton of use, so I'd love one for Aria. Good luck.

I agree, they are ridiculously priced! I'm hoping to make ours for less than $100... which I know there are kitchens you can buy that are less than that but I'm excited to be able to make one that is a bit bigger than most of them so that it fits my tall sons well and they have plenty of room to play together. So far we've built the fridge and the oven and we should be on budget unless something crazy happens.

That's great that you are taking "me" time to refocus and relax! So very needed! Never feel guilty for that! I'm an introvert too so I totally get the need for being alone sometimes!

As much as I love people I agree with you that as an introvert it's nice to be alone sometimes.

$699....what? That's a small house payment. Don't feel guilty about getting out....if you don't take care of yourself then you're doing your children a disservice!

Thanks! I totally agree that as a mom I've got to take care of myself and as much as I might feel guilty a little time alone helps me be a better mom for sure!
