Happy Halloween weekend! Really it’s been Halloween around here since Saturday with our community’s Trick or Treat in the Park but the festivities continue this weekend. My little Doggie and Batman are loving it.
[one] Trick or Treat
My boys have already trick or treated! I know, early for some of you but that’s just how things fell this year for our Trick or Treat in the Park. Our police department puts on this event for our town and it’s amazing.
I’ve been making a time for reading lately and I was trilled to get an advanced copy of Hoodwinked: Ten Myths Moms Believe & Why We All Need to Knock it Off by Karen Ehman and Ruth Schwenk. Mamas, this book looks at some of the myths that really trip us up as mothers and debunks them with some wonderful truth. I don’t know about you but mom guilt and comparison are sometimes issues for me and this book has helped unburden me and help me feel more free as a mom. If your mama soul needs a little soothing then this book might be for you. It releases November 3rd!
[three] DIY Ottoman
I have been working on an ottoman now for 2 weeks. We got rid of our old ottoman over a year ago and have not found anything to replace it. So 2 weeks ago I got sick of the blankets being all over the place in the living room (we used to keep them in the ottoman) and not having somewhere to prop my feet so I woke up one morning and decided to make one. I’ll be sharing the full reveal this week but here’s a sneak peek at it part way through! Clearly, someone thinks it’s a giant dog bed.
[four] Living Well Spending Zero
This month we participated in Ruth Sukoup’s Living Well Spending Zero Challenge. Basically it involves trying to go a month without spending any unecessary money. You decide beforehand what’s essential and then there are various challenges that help you to spend less- taking stock of your pantry to cut down on your grocery spending, organizing, etc. We did break some of our rules and eat out a few times but overall we did really, really well and were able to put away a lot of money this month. I think it helps that I only went to Target once this month 🙂
[five] Sweet Tea
I’m not always in the mood for it, but when I am I LOVE it! As a part of our Living Well Spending Zero Challenge we decided not to buy sodas or other drinks this month and so when I really wanted something sweet I reached for these K-cups that we had in our pantry. I can’t even remember buying them but they’re great and they came in handy this month.
