I’m so thankful that it’s Friday! I have been in such a rut this week. Easter and all its happens just zapped all the energy out of me and I’m hoping to relax this weekend so that I can jump right in to next week with some new energy. Here are some of my favorites from this week:
1. Easter
Easter was action-packed but a lot of fun. I love holidays now that A (our 4 year old) is old enough to really anticipate and get into the festive spirit of them all. And I have to say more than anything I enjoyed seeing him sing with the tiny tot choir on Sunday morning. He smiled and dance and sang with such joy. They also opened their Easter baskets and hunted eggs with joy, so it was a pretty joyful weekend all in all.
2. Backsplash
I installed our backsplash this past week and while it has some definite imperfections I’m happy overall and so thankful to be done! I’ll share more in a full post this coming week but suffice it to say that this kitchen has come a long way!

3. Goodbye to the Volvo
So when I graduated from college my parents gave me a very nice gift- a car. I’ve had this car for over ten years now (actually my husband has used it to commute ever since I became a stay-at-home mom) and this week we traded it in for a new car. It’s time but I have to admit I got a little teary-eyed when I thought of all that has happened in the time I’ve had this car. Basically it carried me through those first few years of adulthood- to my first teaching job, graduate school, living on my own in my first apartment, marriage, moving several states away, having our children, and moving into our home. My life has changed so much in that time that it’s a little emotional- even though I know it’s just a car.

This was just before trading her in.
And below is a picture from when my parents gave me the Volvo in December 2004 when I graduated. I promise, I really was excited… it’s just that they woke me up and took me out there one morning so I don’t think I had fully woken up yet. And they did not have a digital camera then so I had no idea I looked like this until it was printed. Come to think of it, this is an awful picture of me, I don’t know why I am sharing it!
4. Alden’s Light Ice Cream Sherbet
This is so good! My husband has long been a fan of Alden’s Cookies and Cream for some time and I finally ventured out and tried a new flavor this week. If you like creamsicles then you will love Orange Creme Swirl. It is so creamy. I foresee this becoming a regular around here this summer.
5. Oh Tiny Gifts Brand Rep Search
Moriah over at oh tiny gifts make ridiculously cute headbands, tiny scarves, and tees. This week she sent out a little message on instagram about a brand rep search and I thought I’d pass it on in case some of you might be interested:
“Just when my family is getting ready to leave for Uganda and I thought Oh Tiny Gifts would be on hold for awhile! Instead I have teamed up with @christinemariephoto and we will be working to continue to sell products in the shop! Headbands and hand sewn items may be on hold soon, but we want to get the word out that we are now selling graphic shirts! We want YOU to help us spread the word and we are looking for an Oh Tiny Gifts brand rep. Mamas and littles are great, or single/childless gals are in the running too. Right now we are offering women’s shirts and sizes 12 M, 2T, 3T, and 4T in kids. If you want to be our new brand rep, tag up to five pictures with #ohtinygiftsrep and make sure to also tag @ohtinygifts. If you would then share this picture with the same tags that would be lovely! We are looking for good quality pics of yourself or your littles, or both…get creative! We also want to work along with someone whose heart aligns with ours and is working to be a light for Christ and shine bright wherever they are! We would love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are from on one of your tagged pics. US residents only and public accounts please. So who wants to receive free product for great pics and promotion on turn!? We will have this run through next Tuesday and then will pick by the end of that week. Blessings to all!
Have a wonderful Friday!

The backsplash looks great! Oh, the look on my husbands face if he got home from work one day and I had completed the backsplash...we shall see. It can't be that hard right?! ;)
New car? What'd you get. :)

You would totally do it! I used this adhesive tile mat stuff from Lowes instead of mastic and once you apply your tile you can actually grout right away without having to wait 24 hours like you do with mastic. So it's possible! I wasn't quite that fast. I grouted the next day. Lol, I can't believe I forgot to mention the new car! It's a Nissan Juke. And I just realized that we have yet to take pictures of it. This past weekend was just busy busy.

I LOVE your backsplash!! I would love to hear how you did it! We really want to install a backsplash in our kitchen, but I'm a little intimidated by doing it ourselves.

Thank you! I was intimidated too (especially with using the tile saw!) but I'm glad I pushed through and finally did it. I'm planning to share all about it on Tuesday.
