Five on Friday

Good morning y’all!  What a week it has been.  Here’s the top 5 things on my mind and heart this morning:

1. Teddy Fish

As I mentioned on Tuesday, Teddy Fish passed away on Monday.  Teddy was just over a year old and in his short time on this earth he had a large impact on others, including me.  He fought hard against Menkes, a fatal disease that does not have a cure.  Teddy and his parents fought bravely and with a beautiful grace.  He was laid to rest yesterday.  Please pray for the Fish Family.  You can read more of their story at SuperTeddyFish.com.

2. My Own Babies

If there is anything that Teddy’s story has taught me, it is to hold on just a little bit tighter to my boys, drink them in, and savor my time with them.  Life is short and we have no guarantee of tomorrow.  So I’ve been hugging them a little longer, rocking my baby a little longer, and letting of other things in favor of more time with them.

Speaking of my two boys, they are becoming quite the pair.  I love watching the bond that is forming between them.  I remember when we found out baby S’s sex at our 20 week ultrasound my husband said, “Now A has a best friend for life.  They can be the best man at each other’s weddings.”  And it’s true, I can totally see these two standing with each other on their special days.  For now there’s lots of giggling and even getting into a little trouble together.

4. The Bathroom

This is pretty much one of the ugliest bathrooms ever right now, but it’s such a beautiful picture to me because the wallpaper is GONE.  Now for some fun drywall patching and skim coating.  And reworking the plumbing from the tub we removed.  And patching the hole in the floor.  And everything else.  This should only take me a few many months.  It’s the year of the bathroom!

5. Mothers Day

You know, life is busy.  And fast.  I like how holidays make us pause and reflect.  I am thankful for my mother, for my grandmother, and for the blessing of being able to be a mother.  I feel like getting a graduating college, getting a real job, and getting married may have helped me to grow up a little, but nothing has grown me up more than becoming a mother.  Motherhood has challenged, changed, and blessed me more than I could have ever imagined.  Happy Mothers day to all you mothers out there!

Stripping wallpaper is such a huge task! It must feel great to have it completed!

Yes, it is! Thankfully my sister-in-law lent me a wallpaper steamer and that helped tremendously.
